How it works

The TOCA Champion Series is a seven day, seven tournament event. It is open to both Basic and Player's Club members. The goal of the TOCA Champion Series is to race in each of the seven tournaments, accumulate as many points as possible, and be one of the top-ranked racers at the end of the series. The top five ranked players will receive a prize as outlined below.

The Tournaments

Each tournament highlights a different racing discipline.

Racers will have to excel in all seven genres in order to rank in the top five overall.

Racing in each tournament will generate a number of points for three different categories:

Fastest Race Time

Competitors will be ranked based on their fastest race time in completed races in a tournament. Points will be awarded based on the number of participants in the tournament. For example: If a racer's fastest race time ranks them in second place out of 10 competing racers, they would receive nine points for Fastest Race Time.

Fastest Lap Time

Competitors will be ranked based on their fastest lap time in completed races in a tournament. Points will be awarded based on the number of participants in the tournament. For example, if a racer's fastest lap time ranks them in second place out of 10 competing racers, they would receive nine points for Fastest Lap Time.

Average Speed

Competitors will be ranked based on their average speed in completed races. Points will be awarded based on the number of participants in the tournament. For example: If a racer's total distance travelled ranks them in second place out of 10 competing racers, they would receive nine points for Average Speed.

The following track lengths will be used to calculate Average Speed:

Points for all three categories will be tallied with the result being a racer's rank for that tournament.

In the event of a tie, racers would share the points awarded for the rank for which they tied. For example, if two racers tied for second place out of 10 racers, both racers would receive nine points.

At the end of the seven day period, overall ranks for the series of seven tournaments will be calculated as follows: Each participant's point totals for Fastest Race Time, Fastest Lap Time and Total Distance travelled for all seven tournaments will be tallied. The top five ranked participants will win a prize. In the example image above, the racers overall total for the series is 161 points. This number would be used to calculate overall rank for prize consideration.

Current points totals will be available here and will be updated twice daily. It is not necessary for a participant to compete in all seven tournaments to be included in overall scoring for the tournament prizes.

The Prizes

The prizes for the top five ranked racers at the end of the series will be a silver 1GB iPod Shuffle, engraved with http://toca.skillground.com. Prizes will take eight to ten weeks for delivery. Participants who have won an iPod Shuffle in a previous TOCA Champions Series or other TOCA contest at SkillGround will are not eligible to win another in this TOCA Champion Series.
